Day 1: Beijing
Arrive at Beijing , to be met by our representative & transfer to your hotel. Free at leisure for the rest of the day. (No meals)
Day 2: Beijing
Full day trip to the Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, the Temple of Heave . The Tiananmen Square: The largest city square in the world.
The Forbidden City:
The largest imperial palace in China for 24 emperors" reign during the Ming and Qing dynasties with a history of around 600 years.
The Temple of Heaven:
a masterpiece of architecture and landscape design where the ancient emperors used to pray for the whole nation and good harvest. (B, L)
Day 3: Beijing
Full Day trip to the Great Wall, Ming Tomb. Enjoy a famous Peking Duck Banquet for dinner.
- The Great Wall: One of the great wonders in the world and the symbol of China .
- The Ming Tomb: an underground palace for a Ming-dynasty emperors' afterlife. (B, L, D)
Day 4: Beijing / Xian by flight
Visit Beijings Hutongs by rickshaw.
Hutongs: the unique street design in Old Beijing City, crisscrossing old narrow paths with courtyard houses built on each side can be regarded as a window into Beijing folk life. Take an afternoon flight to Xian to be met & transferred to your hotel. Time at leisure. (B, L)
Day 5: Xian
Visit the Terra-cotta Warriors and Horses, the Bell Tower and the Wild Goose Pagoda.
The Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum:
one of the most important archaeological finds in the 20th century; an army of terra-cotta warriors and the bronze chariots entombed in vast underground vaults at emperor Qin"s tomb since 2200 year ago.
The Bell Tower:
first built in 1384, the largest and best preserved of its kind. The Wild Goose Pagoda: the city emblem, which was first built in Tang Dynasty for the storage of Buddhist scriptures taken from India by Monk Xuanzang. (B, L)
Day 6: Xian / Lhasa
Take a morning flight to Lhasa . Be met and transfer to hotel. (B)
Day 7 & 8: Lhasa
We will have two full days in Lhasa to make excursions to the following places:
The Jokhang
The Jokhang is the principal and holiest Buddhist temple in Lhasa , as well as all of Tibet . It is the focus of devotion of hundreds of Tibetans from near and far who circle it to gain spiritual merit. The Jokhang was first constructed in the 7th century and has a large gold image of Sakyamuni Buddha.
Sera and Drepung
Sera monastery, founded in 1419, is a monastery of the Gelugpa order. Its many white buildings sit at the base of a rocky hill. Gilded, bell-shaped gyamtschens grace the roofs of many of the larger buildings.
Drepung used to have 8,000 monks who were taught in the traditions of Vajrayana, Mahayana, and Sutrayana, the three vehicles of Tibetan Buddhism.
Potala Palace
The 13-story Potala Palace is reputed to contain 1,000 rooms and hundreds upon hundreds of brilliant thangkas, frescoes, and images built in an era when religious art was created anonymously as a means of gaining merit for future lives. It's one of the world's most extraordinary buildings and completely covers the mountain it stands upon.
Day 9: Lhasa / Chengdu
Take a morning flight to Chengdu , be met and transfer to visit the Giant Panda Breeding Center. Stay at Chengdu overnight Giant Panda Breeding Center : First opened in 1987, a semi-wild area where those lovely China "s ambassadors can be allowed to freely roam. (B, L)
Day 10: Chengdu / Shanghai
Drive to visit Dujiangyan Irrigation System, Qingcheng Mount (cable car included). Take an evening flight to Shanghai .
Dujiangyan Irrigation System:
2200+ year old water conservation project, still in use for irrigation and flood-controlling.
Qingcheng Mount:
Famous Taoist holy mountains, together with Dujiangyan Irrigation System are listed as Cultural Heritage by UNESCO. (B, L)
Day 11: Shanghai
Visit Yu Garden, Jade Buddha Temple , the Bund and Nanjing Road for shopping.
Yu Garden:
It used to be a private garden with 400 years history, it features traditional architectural style of the Yangtze Delta.
Jade Buddha Temple:
Most popular Buddhist temple in Shanghai boasting 2 precious jade Buddha sculptures from Burma .
The Bund:
Shanghais’ famous waterfront to see new-erect modern skyscrapers and aged buildings of the colonial period.
Nanjing Road:
the busiest shopping street in Shanghai . (B, L)
Day 12: Shanghai
Tour to nearby town of Zhujiajiao , and transfer back to Shanghai , afternoon free.
Zhujiajiao Town:
an ancient water town featured with traditional lifestyle of Yangtze Delta. (B, L)
Day 13: Shanghai departure
Transfer to Shanghai Pudong airport for your flight to your next destination. Tour ends. (B) |
