| A highly popular tour with tourist arriving & returning via Mainland China, it covers all the important cultural, historical & ancient towns & villages in Central Tibet such as Lhasa, Gyangtse, Shigatse, Xegar, & Tingri. And the highlight of the tour is a visit to Rongbuk Monastery & the optional hike to Everest Base Camp from where the view of the north face of Mount Everest is the most spectacular of all. After exploring the fabled city of Lhasa, we drive overland in 4-WD jeeps, across the Tibetan highlands & high passes to the Dza Rongbuk Monastery & the Everest Base Camp. |

TOUR ITINERARY |

Day 01: ARRIVE LHASA VIA KATHMANDU/CHENGDU/BEIJING On arrival meet & transfer to your hotel. At 3500m, it is advisable to take your day easy. Optional walking tour of Barkhor, the bustling market place of Lhasa. |

Day 02: LHASA This morning, we tour Potala, the winter palace of the Dalai Lama & listed as a world heritage site and Drepung Monastery, the biggest monastic university of Tibet. |

Day 03: LHASA In the morning, we visit Norbulinka, the summer palace for the Dalai Lama. In the afternoon, we cover Jokhang — the “central cathedral”, Barkhor — the bustling market in the heart of old Lhasa with its narrow streets whitewashed stone homes, window and the Tibetan Medical Centre. |

| Day 04: LHASA-GYANGTSE (3990 M), 350 KMS |

Day 05: GYANGTSE - SAKYA Visit Kumbum Stupa (an oversized chorten of over 100,000 images) & the adjoining Palkhor Chode Monastery & continue drive to Sakya. |

Day 06: RONGBUK MONASTERY Split off the main overland route and the road rises steeply up the foothills of the Himalayas via Pang la Pass to arrive at Rongbuk Monastery, the world’s highest monastery situated at 5200m, just below the Rongbuk glacier. Overnight at Rongbuk Monastery Guest House. |

Day 07: EVEREST BASE CAMP We have an option to hike or drive to Everest Base Camp. Return to Rongbuk Monastery. |

Day 08: RONGBUK - SHIGATSE After another magical sunrise over Everest, we drive on to Shigatse. Visit Tashilunpo Monastery, the seat of Panchen Lama & one of the, biggest Gelukpa Monastery in the Tsang province. |

Day 09: SHIGATSE - LHASA R eturn to Lhasa. Check into hotel. Rest of the day at leisure |
